I believe in karma, that the good we create in the world comes back to us. My radio life has allowed me to do some good things, help some folks and be a part of some amazing projects. A couple of amazing opportunities have come through my web work. Here are a couple things that you can participate in here in Birmingham and beyond.
Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge - Located in Birmingham, this amazing place offers lodging to people undergoing cancer treatments in area hospitals. 33 patient rooms offer lodging to about 700 families annually. There are lots of opportunities to lend a hand, just give them a call.
Jani's Journey - Jani Schofield is an amazing kid with her childhood being stolen from her by the very adult diagnosis of schizophrenia. Blogs from Dad Michael and Podcasts from Mom Susan provide a window into their world. My connection to the family is a special one, having constructed their website.
American Red Cross - Giving blood is sich a simple thing, and the bottom line is that is saves lives. The link here takes you to the Birmingham office, where you can find out more about the range of services offered, make an appointment to donate blood and find out more about the relief efforts in Haiti.
Toys for Tots - The men and women of the United States Marine Corps have been doing this as long as I can remember. It's a simple mission that I've been honored to help with over the years. This link doesn't have much activity until October, but check back as we get closer to Christmas!
