They Call it the Magic City...

Before the Civil War, it wasn't even here.  But the discover of all the elements necessary to process iron and steel gave rise to the "Magic City."  Over a quarter of Alabama's population lives in the Birmingham/Hoover metropolitan area.  And while heavy metal was the first engine for the area's economy, we've diversified our base to include finance, medicine and biotechnology.
