Welcome to ronchatman.com! Welcome to my little slice of heaven on the internet. It's another one of those darned personal websites, subjecting you to my P.O.V. on life through the usual digital arsenal. There's a blog, photo gallery and any number of ways to interact in cyberspace and meatspace too!
They Call it the Magic City... It's a great place to live, and I'll try to share some of the things that make it special with you.  Birmingham is graced with everything from natural features like fantastic underground caverns and beuatiful gardens, to man-made wonders like giant blast furnaces and one of the best attended concert facilities in the US.
It used to cost 5¢ to have this much fun... No...it's not an ordinary job.  Over the course of the past few years, I've met some interesting people and done some cool things.  Consider this the (semi) official record of that path, as edited and amended by my head.  Just remember that history is usually written by the victors.  Usually, I said...
Pass it on. Having fun? Be sure and return a little something to the cosmos before you go. Times are tough and there are folks that could use your help. Money works, but a gift of your time and talent works just as well. Think of it as a gift made up of your gifts. If that's not too 'meta' for you, let's get started!
A kick inside... There's all manner of stuff going on in my head. To avoid any long term damage, I have to let some of it out from time to time. Feel free to read as much as suits you. Just be sure to stop before you go blind. Or maybe when you need glasses.

Why I'm A Geek, Part #137

Bold9650As a kid, I envied James Bond and Dick Tracy.  Their cool gadgets and amazing tech always managed to win the day...and the girl!  So my fascination with tech is an honest one, and it usually comes to a head when Blackberry rolls out a new model, as they have recently done with the Bold 9650 .

Though my loyalty has been severely tested by the latest crop of Android phones (my brother has a Samsung Moment and digs the hell out of it), my love of the pure geeky feel of the Blackberry has kept me true to the brand for a few years now.  The folks at Crackberry.com just reviewed the Bold 9650, an evolution of the Tour 9630 I currently own.  I think my next upgrade comes in July...

I'm the Doctor

446doctor1It's tough to properly express my love for BBC America.  Having spent some of my formative years in England, I have a love for the people, culture and language.  (No bones about it...it IS a different language!)  But my favorite guilty pleasure of the moment is a show that has been running (off and on) since 1963.

The protagonist flies through time and space in a ship that's bigger on the inside than on the outside.  He has a habit of kidnapping women (and sometimes men) to accompany him on his flights through the universe, often putting these "companions" in incredible danger.  He's a renegade from a dead alien race, has two hearts, is over 900 years old and has occupied eleven different bodies so far.

You still with me?

The other Ron Chatman(s)

experience_smMy name is Ron Chatman, a gift from my parents bestowed upon my birth.  It's the only thing I will carry with me from cradle to grave and I am fiercely proud of it.  But one thing that I have kept in the back of my mind was that my name was unique.

Dog Vacuuming on a Saturday

vacuumThe advent of warmer weather means a change of coats for Schuyler.  It's an annual rite of passage for the household.  Much as warmer weather means a shift toward lighter human clothing, my dog manages to accomplish this by shedding a massive amount of dog hair all over the floor, couches and throughout the house.  Luckily she's up for a good vacuuming.

HST Says...

" If I'd written the truth I knew for the past ten years, about 600 people—including me—would be rotting in prison cells from Rio to Seattle today. Absolute truth is a very rare and dangerous commodity in the context of professional journalism. "

Hunter S Thompson

You. On the Web...

I can help with that.  Domain names, customized email solutions, websites and hosting. Those and fancier tricks up the old sleeves.

Do it...

Calendar

Important dates, holidays and notable time/space coordinates.  There are also some fairly random items as well...just for grins.

Tempus Fugit

Facebook & Twitter

Funny, I've heard of both of them.  And have a digital footprint in both places...mad, crazy scribblings of a digital nature.
